See you next summer

The Funky Flea was held on June 2nd at the Everson Plaza, and was a crazy good time!  We have had lots of inquiries about having a second one this summer or fall, but we have too many other PATF projects cooking up to hold another Flea.  Thanks for your support everyone!!  We will definitely have another Funky Flea next June and we hope to have it at the Everson again.  Stay tuned for more info.....

Another Flea Come and Gone..........

This summers Funky Flea was amazing!  The Everson Plaza proved to be our most beautiful venue so far.  We truly hope to hold the Flea there next year!  As we will only be doing the Funky Flea once this summer-if you missed it, you'll have to wait till next summer to score those awesome treasures.  But here's some pics to hold you over till next June.

FLEA-verson

The Everson Museum opened at its present site in 1968.  It was the first museum designed by architect I.M Pei, and was meant to be more than just a building housing art.  Pei designed the building to be a grand sculptural object, to be experienced as sculpture in the context of the city.  It is a wonderful example of contemporary architecture and is, truly, a work of art.  We are honored and excited to be having our Funky Flea is such a fabulous venue and encourage you to visit this gem in our city often!  The Everson has a vast collection of art and has many thought provoking and unique exhibits throughout the year.  Visit them on Saturday and see the new exhibition titled "People, Place and Progress: Local Landscapes in Paint and Print"  It is an exhibit co-curated by the Onondaga Historical association" and it opens on Saturday!  The museum is open from 10am to 5 pm on Saturday.

Everson Plaza

We are SO excited to be holding the Funky Flea at the Everson Plaza!  Here's a shot of the Plaza in the evening during the Urban Video Projects outdoor film showing.  If you are a vendor, please check out these photos to get an idea of where you will be selling your wares!  You will be loading from the employee parking lot next to the museum-but you will have to move your treasures to your space from there.  Bring a dolly and some extra muscle if you can!

What we FOUND

The Funky Flea took a road trip yesterday to do some scouting and get a little inspiration.  We found inspiration galore at an incredible flea market in Ithaca, put on by the fine folks at FOUND.  Do you know this place?  It's a huge multi-dealer antique mall in Ithaca.  Chock full of fabulous stuff.  They started their once a month Found Flea yesterday and it was amazing!  Too many goodies to choose from!  The owners of Found will be at the Funky Flea, and they say they can't wait.  They are bringing lots of furniture and housewares and are surely going to be one of the most popular booths there.  Come check them out at the Funky Flea on June 2nd and at their home in Ithaca on June 15th.

Vendor submissions have closed and the numbers have been tallied.  We are so happy to announce that this summers Funky Flea will feature.............drumroll please.............SIXTY FIVE vendors!!!  A very varied mix of flea market goods, handmade crafts and artwork, yummy food, and a surprise or two thrown in.  Stay tuned for more info!!

When's the last time you saw one of these?   It comes from ancient times when televisions had tubes which could be replaced.  If you are old enough to remember these, then you need to come to the Funky Flea and see what other treasures such as this you will find!  This groovy machine was at the 2nd Funky Flea in August 2011, and the vendor Noel Ebner is coming back for FLEA3!  Come see what other analog treasures Noel will bring...

Vendor submissions closed!!!

Vendor applications-CLOSED!!!  Did you miss your chance to be on the most lovely spot downtown, peddling your wares with more than 60 other vendors?  Awwwwww...........well please join us a shopper on June 2nd.  We will have a huge mix of handmade goods, thrifted treasures, furniture, retro collectibles, jewelry, food, artwork, records, and the list goes on!  Stay tuned for some info on our vendors in the next few weeks.  And we'll see ya at the Everson June 2nd!

Vendor application submissions will close this Friday!!  Due to the large number of applicants already, we are closing submissions one week early!  WE will accept vendor applications until FRIDAY, MAY 11th.  If you want to be a part of the Funky Flea-apply now!

Holy moly! The vendor applications have been POURING in!  We have FIFTY FIVE vendors already!  We may have to limit the number of vendors so we can easily manage everything on Flea day, so submissions will be closing soon.  If you want to be a vendor-best get a move on and apply!  You don't want to miss out on the most exciting market of the summer do you?

Ya never know what you'll find at the Funky Flea

Don't you just love the random mix of goodies you find at a flea market?  One stall selling antique porcelain, the next-homemade candy, the next-1970s albums, the next vintage clothing.  You truly never know what you'll find!  this is especially true at the Funky Flea-if our first 2 versions of this event are any indication.  Take a look at this very random sample of goods offered at Fleas 1 and 2 last summer!

How lucky are we?

We are still completely in happy shock that THIS is going to be the venue for the next Funky Flea!!  We are so grateful to the fine folks at the Everson Museum for partnering with us on this funky adventure!  The Everson Museum houses an outstanding collection of art and is an architectural gem-designed by I.M. Pei.  We can't wait till JUNE 2nd!!!!!!

Spring has sprung, which means blooming flowers, open windows, longer days and SPRING CLEANING!  You may have amassed a few things over the winter that you're not so sure you need anymore.  The perfect solution is to pack it up, price it, and bring it down to the Everson Plaza on June 2nd, where the Public Arts Task Force will be holding FUNKY FLEA3!!  It's going to be the biggest and best Flea yet!
