Post Flea season

What a fantastic summer it was in Central New York-and our autumn is shaping up to be pretty spectacular too, isn't it?  We here at Funky Flea headquarters look forward to working on our various other projects throughout the rest of the year and thinking up fresh ideas for next years edition of the FUNKY FLEA.  It's gonna be our 5th one!!  Please check the blog and Facebook page in March for details on the 2014 Funky Flea Market.

Another Success!

Whoooooooo!  Funky Flea number four was a rager!!!  Many thanks to the 72 vendors who braved the heat and made this summers version of the FUNKY FLEA the best so far!  We estimate that over 2400 peole came and shopped the Flea throughout the day-and judging by all the goods we saw people carrying off the lot-treasures were to be had everywhere!  We are already pumped up to do it again next summer!!

It's going to be a hot and humid day, filled with hot shopping deals! Hope to see you out and about.

News Flash: You think the party is over at 4:00PM? Guess again! Post-flea, the plaza will transform into a tailgating party for the Crunch team playing (playoff game #5 happening tonight!). There will be music, more food trucks, and a few of our vendors hanging out as well. Sounds like fun.

Not lost-FOUND!!!

Your fabulous FUNKY FLEA codirectors made a flea test run last weekend by participating as vendors at the FOUND Flea Market.  FOUND In Ithaca has this flea market in their parking lot on the third Sunday of each month from May through October.  So much good stuff, we had a hard time not spending all our money and loading our cars right back up with goodies.  Luckily, we didn't bring ALL of our stuff to sell-we'll still have plenty to peddle at the FUNKY FLEA.  Look for sneak peeks this week on what both Briana and Theresa will be selling at their FUNKY FLEA booths!  In the meantime, here's some shots of the great stuff we FOUND at FOUND

Fresher than fresh!

This year we asked our friend Tommy Lincoln (he's a Syracuse based designer/artist, current co-chair for the public arts task force and a adjunct professor at Cazenovia college) to design this year's Funky Flea posters and postcards and well..... HE HOOKED IT UP!  Check out our fresher than fresh poster (in three versions!)

Thank you so much Tommy for your time and creative energy.  These posters are fabulous and will look lovely plastered all over the city.  If you like his work, find his booth at the flea -- Tommy will be selling a variety of illustrations, paintings, original prints and shirts!

You never know....

You truly never know what is going to happen at a Funky Flea.  These morph suit wearing weirdos burst out of a van at the first Funky Flea in 2011.  They meandered around the lot, singing songs about peoples merchandise, got back into the van, and were never seen again.  Who WERE these mysterious orange invaders?

Wondering what delectable goodies will be available for noshing at this summers Funky Flea?? We are soooooooooo excited to announce that we will presenting a caravan of FOOD TRUCKS at our event on June 1st

Food trucks have been popping up all over the past few years, and local foodies anxiously awaited their arrival here in Syracuse. That moment has arrived!! Several new food trucks are starting up this spring in Syracuse, and Street Eats has been serving up yummy mobile eats for over a year. Joining us at the Everson on June 1st will be:

Holy cats! Our application window is nearly closed! How did that happen so fast? We have been pretty flooded with vendor applications-yippeee! If you want to be a part of this summers FUNKY FLEA, ya best get on it-this is the final week in which you can apply! WE WILL BE ACCEPTING VENDOR APPLICATIONS UNTIL APRIL 7.  Please remember that we are giving first priority for the remaining spots to those who are selling vintage/retro/thrift shop/flea type merchandise!!

Wanna be a vendor at this year's Funky Flea?  Super!  We are currently accepting new applicants from March 18 - April 7. Here is a link to apply --> 2013 Vendor Application.  Please note that due to high demand, limited space, and need to diversify goods for sale, we will be selecting vendors and will give preference first to those selling flea goods / vintage wares. 

If you are a confirmed returning vendor, you do not need to re-apply!
